What Is a Kin?
Alongside the year runs the Tzolkin, a count of 260 days. Each of these days is a Kin.
Each Kin combines one of the 20 seals with one of the 13 tones: 20 × 13 = 260. Seal and tone form the name of the Kin.
The seals have four colors: red initiates, white refines, blue transforms, yellow ripens.
Small exercise
Guess first: what color is today’s seal? Then reveal the Kin of the day.
